Natwest Community Fund
Natwest have created this fund to support hundreds of local charities and projects across Britain each year. If as a club you feel that you do great things for your community then why not apply to receive a share of the £5,000 Natwest Community Fund for your area. Wells Sports Foundation
The Sports Grants Scheme has been established to create a lasting legacy for future generations through the development of club sport. Grants of between £500 and £2,000 are available to sports clubs to support worthwhile projects. The club must have achieved Clubmark status.
Funding Examples
The scheme will fund projects that support the development and sustainability of sports clubs. Funding can be used for:
- Equipment
- CRBs for volunteers
- Coaching qualifications
- Refereeing and umpiring courses
We are looking to fund projects . For example - projects that need equipment that is specifically focused on increasing participation, CRBs for volunteers, coaching qualifications and refereeing/umpiring courses.

Sport England Small Grants Programme
Similar to the old Awards for All, the Sport England Small Grants Programme has been set up to support local community sports projects that seek to increase participation, sustain participation or develop opportunities for people to excel at their chosen sport.
- Awards are for amounts from £300- £10,000
- The total project cost should not exceed £50,000
- The projects must be deliverable within 12 months and provide a monitoring report within 13 months of the date of the offer letter.
- Projects must be focused only on sports currently recognised by Sport England and delievered to beneficiaries based in England.
- Decision within six weeks.
Funding Examples
- Help for a sports club to expand its age range by enabling it to buy extra kit or pay additional coaching fees.
- Help youth clubs to work together with local sports clubs to get more people playing sport.
Further information
The fund is open to any bona fide not-for-profit club or association, statutory body or educational establishment in England.

Cash 4 Clubs
Cash 4 Clubs is a sports grants scheme that provides funding to support grassroots UK sports clubs. There are three tiers of grants at £250, £500 and £1,000 which are awarded on a discretionary basis.

- purchasing new equipment
- gaining coaching qualifications
- investing in the sustainability of a sports club
Further Information
Any sports club can apply as long as they are registered with their National Governing Body or local authority. Applications are accepted from clubs on an ongoing basis and will be processed during the next panel meeting. These are held at approximately quarterly intervals throughout the year.
The Crown Charitable Fund
The Crown Charitable Fund aims to benefit voluntary and community groups working with children and young people up to age 18. Herne Bay is the primary area for grant making although groups across the wider Canterbury district have received support.
Funding Examples
- Grants awarded are generally between £250 and £2500.
- Applicants are encouraged to match the amount applied for.
- Funding is not available to individuals.

Unltd Sport Relief
Unltd Sport Relief Awards are a UK-wide funding programme for 11-21 year olds who are prepared to go the extra mile and use their passion for sports and arts to bring respect and understanding to their communities by setting up their own projects.
Funding Examples
- Provide young people to bring communities together
- Help promote understanding and solve problems through sport, arts and recreational activities.

There are three types of awards: Try It (up to £1,000), Shape it (up to £5,000) and Do It (up to £10,000).

Torch Trophy Trust- Training Bursaries
The Torch Trophy Trust makes grants available to volunteers to improve their skills as coaches and officials. The trust will contribute from £100 to £1,000 to individuals and groups who are struggling to find the funds from other sources.

Further Information
The Trust will normally expect to pay only 50% of the total cost required, with the group or other funders making up the rest. A supporting letter will be required from your National Governing Body and a simple Word document is available from their website.
BBC Children in Need's grants programme
Grants are open to organisations working with disadvantaged children and young people who are 18 years old and under. BBC Children in Need can only fund projects that focus on the differences made (outcomes) to the lives of disadvantaged children and young people
Further Information
The organisation and project must be based in the UK and must be a registered charity or other not-for-profit organisation. There are four general grant deadlines each year: 15 January, 15 April, 15 July, 15 October. Small grants will fund £10,000 or less per year for up to three years. Kent County Council's Youth Opportunity Fund and Capital Fund
The funds help young people and particularly hard to reach groups. The Opportunity Fund supports the development of positive activities and things to do for young people and seeks to widen their role as decision makers, grant givers and project leaders. The Capital Fund compliments the Opportunity Fund with small capital grants.
Both funds aim to give a voice to young people, particularly disadvantaged young people, in relation to things to do and places to go, conveying a powerful message to young people that their needs and aspirations are important.
Further Information
At least 4 young people must be involved in the project, from the initial idea, completing the application form and the development of the project/activity. The maximum grant available is £5,000, the minimum grant is £250.

COMMA FUND
The COMMA fund focuses on supporting community projects in settlements affected by the impacts of quarrying and has supported a wide range of projects which have directly improved the lives of people in their communities.
Funding Examples
The COMMA fund aims to support community-based projects which provide a genuine and lasting benefit for the community. Examples of funding including projects that provide, improve, repair or maintain a building, structure, place or feature that will be of value to people in the local community and improve their quality of life.

- Biffaward Small Grants: offers grants between £250 and £500 to support improvements and access to local amenities such as a community building, nature reservem cycle path, playground, culteral facility or outdoor space. www.biffaward.org/about/soverview
- Grassroots Grant Programme: grants of £250- £5000 available to any voluntary and community group in England. Can be used to fund equipment, staff expenses, rent costs and overheads. www.cdf.org.uk.
- The Co-operative Membership Community Fund: offers grants between £100- £2,000 to groups that carry out positive work in the community. www.co-operative.coop/membership/Community-Fund
- Kent Trust for Youth Sport: grants provide financial assistance to purchase new kit or equipment, contribute towards sports development programmes, funding events and talented athletes. www.kentsport.org/trust
- Kent People's Trust: Funds projects large or small which you believe will make a difference in preventing crime or reducing anti-social behaviour. Grants range from £50-£2,500. www.kentpeoplestrust.org.uk.
- Kent Reliance Building Society Sport Saver Grant: Awards £50-£500 for anything from sports equipment to a sports event. www.kentsport.org/small_grants.cfm
- Pfizer Small Grants: Grants awarded for community sports projects in East Kent. Preference will be given to applications which demonstrate an ability of the project to address deprivation. www.kentsport.org/funding_pfizer.cfm
