The Canterbury and District Sports Awards 2011 in association with Matt Fiddes Martial Arts were held on Friday 18th November at Darwin College at the University of Kent. It was a fantastic evenening recognising and celebrating the wealth of talent and commitment seen in community sport across the Canterbury district, from athletes,coaches ,officials and administrators.

Excellence

- Winner: Keziah Gore- British no.2 rhythmic gymnast
- Runner up: Bobby Clay- - UK English National Champion in the 800m
- Runner up: Justine Lambert: Squad Member of British Fencing National Academy International U17

- Winner: Dan Ritchie-Silver medalist in the World Rowing Championships

Community
Senior Club of the Year – Sponsored by McDonalds Canterbury
- Winner: Canterbury Cricket Club- ECB Indoor National Club Champions
- Runner up: Canterbury Bowls Club-Bowls England Club of Year 2010
- Runner up: Canterbury City Football Club-Two successive league and cup doubles (Men’s 1st Team) 2007 and 2008, Kent Adult Disability League Champions 2010 and 2011
Junior Club of the Year- Sponsored by McDonalds Canterbury
- Winner: Saxon Stars Cheerleading Squad-successes included coach of the year, the Spirit award for the second year running and 4 teams becoming National Champions.
- Runner up: Canterbury Hockey Club- many successes including National Champions at Under 16 boys and the under 18’s winning the Hague International tournament against teams from across Europe.
- Runner up: Whitstable Cricket Club Junior Section-under 11’s, under 13’s and under15’s were crowned winners of the Canterbury Junior Cricket League.
Coach of the Year – Sponsored by McDonalds Canterbury
- Winner: Nemesia Willis-Level 5 High Performance Gymnastics Coach
- Runner up: Natalie Coveney- Named coach of the year at the UK Cheerleading Association Elite National Finals.
- Runner up: Steve Holness- Whitstable Cricket Club’s Colts at Under 11, Under 13 and Under 15’s coach.
Unsung Hero in Sport – Sponsored by Matt Fiddes Martial Arts Kent
- Winner: Alan Lingham-received the British Judo long service award who has been involved in Judo for 40 years.
- Runner up: Ron Barker- Has been involved in Roller Hockey since the 1950. as a player, coach, manager, referee and President of the NRHA.
- Runner up:Paul Spratt- has built up 5 cricket teams at Littlebourne Cricket Club over the last 11 years.
Community Award – sponsored by The Kentish Gazette
- Winner: Jean Sharratt- founder and manager of the Paddocks Riding School
- Runner up: Canterbury City Football Club: community section- provides opportunities for disadvantaged individuals and communities, in particular homeless and ex-homeless people from the Canterbury district to engage in a positive pastime that aids a move towards a healthy lifestyle.
- Runner up: Hannah Mowbray-selected by Kent to attend the 2011 FA National Football Futures Camp based on her enthusiasm and dedication to the school and her local club.
