About the Awards

How to make a nomination

Anyone can nominate an individual or club for the Canterbury and District Sports Awards, and there is no limit to the number of separate nominations that can be made by one organisation or individual. Anyone can nominate themselves or their own club.

We may contact you for further information about your nominee, it is therefore important to include as much information as you can about them.

An experienced panel from the district’s community sports network will shortlist the top three nominees from each category. If shortlisted your nominee will be invited by letter to attend the presentation evening where the results will be announced. If unsuccessful your nominee will receive a certificate of recognition. All decisions are final and no correspondence will be entered into regarding decisions.

  • Nominees should either currently be a resident or involved within sport in the Canterbury District.
  • Their involvement must be within a sport recognised by Sport England.
  • These are voluntary sector awards and nominations will not be considered for professional sports people, teams or full time paid coaches.
  • Previous years nominees and winners are eligible to be nominated again.
  • Nominees for senior trophies must be aged 18 years or over and under 18 years for the junior trophies.
  • Short-listed nominees are expected to be present at the awards dinner unless there are exceptional circumstances preventing this, for example competing at the time of the awards or due to illness.
